Around this time last year we wrote a post about the Brooklyn Public Library’s “Great American Book Drive,” which through the Better World Books organization generates funds for the library by collecting patrons’ old books and reselling them online. Last year over 15,000 books were collected and, we understand, a fair chunk of revenue generated for that worthy institution. When we heard that the drive is back this year by popular demand—and taking place this weekend (Saturday, May 16th, 10AM-3PM, Central Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza)—we were only too happy to feature it again.
…But of course, the other reason we featured it last year was the chance to mention the band that was playing at the event: the BPL’s own Lost in the Stacks. Well guess what, folks? Lost in the Stacks is booked again this year, and they’ll be serving up a blend of rock, pop, and jazz that’s sure to get your circulation flowing. That’s right, baby, they’ll be laying down some of the funkiest numbers to come along since Dewey Decimal classification 786. Actually, to be quite honest, “Lost in the Stacks” is one of the sexier band names we can think of, so we encourage our like-minded readers to put on their tortoise-shell-rimmed glasses, go donate a book, and then go donate their dance skills to the floor.
