aul Eichenberg never set out to build the 30 foot flying saucer in his back yard. His original intention was to build a shed for his lawn mower and somehow the shape and idea and $15,000 resulted in the EP7. He still requires a shed for his lawn mower. West Chester, Pennsylvania.
A gunsmith by trade, Paul Eichenberg brought considerable technical skills to bear on the thirty-foot flying saucer he built in his back yard in West Chester, Pennsylvania, equipping it with air conditioning, high-fidelity sound and television, and a port for a telescope to monitor the stars. On the exterior, a controllable array of sequentially blinking lights flashes around the saucers rim. Pressing a button beside the instrument console opens a Plexiglas panel to reveal an array of ray guns, which suitably impress the groups of school children who visit the ship. Pauls wife Connie regularly makes use of the EP7 as a rehearsal space for her classical quartet because of its acoustical qualities. Not a member of a flying saucer group like the one that constructed the Bluebird, and not intending to attract alien ships with a decoy saucer (an idea circulated among saucer groups over the years), Paul engaged in his project in a spirit of playful optimism. In fact, it was not until he personally sighted a UFO over a beach while on holiday in Cancun that Paul became a committed believer in the idea of extraterrestrial visitors. Most people feel that they have seen one, or at least believe in them, Paul stated. I feel that Im at the top of the heapmore attuned to things, having built the saucer. Seeing the saucer [in Cancun]it was wonderful! |
