 Second Scene: The three Ladies withdraw, and a gaily feathered bird-catcher, Papageno, strolls in. Tamino awakens and questions Papageno. Papageno tells him he catches birds for the Queen of the Night in exchange for food and drink, which the Three Ladies bring him each day.
