“[Beth Moon’s] images have a fairy-tale quality to them . . . without color, I could see things that had at first escaped my eyes: their elegant bearing, their strong expressions, and the ethereal quality and texture of their feathers. By eliminating the color, Beth allowed me to see the chickens’ beauty in a deeper way.”
—Isabella Rossellini, from the foreword to Literary Chickens
Join best-selling photographer of Ancient Trees, Beth Moon, for a book launch in celebration of her new release, Literary Chickens, a fierce, funny, and flamboyant collection of fifty-two heritage-breed chickens assessing the camera with a keen gaze. By focusing on the faces of her avian subjects, Beth Moon reveals them to us not just as beautiful and exotic creatures, but as individuals in their own right.
Moon will be in conversation with cultural critic and author Collier Brown, discussing the connection between the animal world and the human world, their artistic practices, and more. After the discussion, Moon will sign copies of her book.
